Rapid tooling techniques

  • Why such rapid production? High-speed CNC cutting is employed in the fabrication of rapid molds. Ideally, the mold core is machined in a single operation using CNC machining, thereby minimizing the need for EDM, manual milling machines, grinder machining, and surface polishing.
  • We have an in-house precision metal 3D printer capable of directly printing mold cores for molds with stringent time requirements. Additionally, Conovawell is equipped with a high-temperature resin material 3D printer. This printer is primarily used for rapid molding manufacturing to validate the design and molding material of rapid molding products for products with relatively lower precision requirements.
  • For large-size rapid tools, Conovawell utilizes a casting process developed in-house to produce the initial mold core shape. The mold core is then fabricated to the required size using CNC milling, significantly reducing both time and material costs.

3D Printed High-Temperature Resistant Resin Mold Core:
The experimental mold is utilized for product checks and to validate injection molding materials. The 3D printed high-temperature resistant resin mold core is suitable for simpler products, small in size, and with fewer surface finish requirements.

Aluminum or Steel Rapid Tools:
We possess a standard interchangeable mold base (mud) to streamline mold processing and assembly time. Rapid molds can be completed within 3 days to 3 weeks, depending on the product’s size and features. With a lifespan exceeding 10,000 cycles, we offer free mold-keeping for 10 years.

Rapid Production Tooling:
Rapid production tooling is ideal for projects requiring large quantities of products. The mold manufacturing cycle typically ranges from 3 to 5 weeks, offering high production efficiency and low product costs.

Bridge Tooling:
Bridge molds are primarily used for small to medium-batch rapid injection molding production. We usually opt for steel material for the mold base, ensuring product dimensional accuracy and a consistent surface finish with mold lifetimes exceeding 100,000 cycles. The manufacturing time for bridge molds ranges from 2 to 4 weeks.
